2018 Kansas High School Football Rankings-Final

Another exciting season of high school football in Kansas has come to a close and here are my final rankings for 2018.  The biggest note to remember on these rankings, I won’t always have the state runner-up as the second ranked team in each class.  Sometimes the East/West formula doesn’t show where the true power is.  I just ask that you keep that in mind when reading these.  Thanks to everyone for following along this season.

The regular season has come to a close for 2018 as we now head into Week 9 Cross-District matchups.  Here are my updated rankings for this week.  You’ll notice that the “Big Game” feature will be removed.  Every game is big from here on on out.

Notes: #1 Bishop Miege lost to 5A #2 St. Thomas Aquinas 41-21.  It ended a 30-game winning streak for Miege over Kansas schools.  I’m the same kind of stubborn with Miege in 4A as I am with Smith Center in 1A and won’t move the Stags from the top spot until they lose to someone within their own class.  #2 McPherson rolled past Rose Hill 57-7.  #3 Paola picked up a 35-0 shutout win over Eudora.  Pittsburg is up to #4 after a 28-21 win at 6A Olathe East.  Louisburg enters the poll at #5 after a 25-0 win over Ottawa.  Goddard falls from #4 out of the poll after a 23-22 double overtime loss at Maize South.  Big game in Week 8: #3 Paola hosts #5 Louisburg in a matchup of unbeatens on Friday.

Big game in Week 5: Tough to find one this week as all five teams will be favorites.
