The 2021 high school football season is in the books. What a great season it was with some surprises in certain classes and the usual suspects coming out on top in others. Here are my rankings to finish the season. As always, these are my opinion and not that of my employer. One of the disclaimers I always mention on the final rankings is the fact I don’t always have the State Runner-up at #2 in their specific class. The east-west formula, in my opinion, is not always the best way to determine the top teams. For those interested, four teams I had ranked #1 to start the season won their state titles, including: St. James (4A), Andale (3A), Rossville (2A), Olpe (1A). Andale, Rossville and Olpe were #1 coast-to-coast. Also, to prove I miss, both of the 8-Man state champs, Meade (8M-DI) and Axtell (8M-DII) were not in my preseason top five. The beauty of these is always the fact it gets played out on the field. Hope everyone enjoyed reading this year.
